“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ … You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
I really enjoyed this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt ( not even sure where I read it, I see things and put them in Google Keep to think about later) as it relates to endurance sports but also to life.
Slowly increasing the level of a situation is a pillar of physical training, yes, but it’s much more about dealing with the part inside ourselves that limits our ability to initially take on a challenge. Noah coined the term “ Houseplant Training”, where we basically drip more suffering onto him and then allow him to grow and become more resilient 🙂
The important thing in my mind is that there’s a moment where the athlete (or houseplant lol) soaks it all in and then adapts. This very well may not happen in real time but a little later in the day, week, or the next situation, but there are almost always opportunities to grow and often prosper from a negative situation.
If a situation keeps coming up and challenging you, I’m happy to help you solve or navigate it., just let me know.

A Sponsorship Opportunity
Some of you may know I’m the incoming head coach for the Terra Linda High School Team for 2023. I’m very excited about this opportunity, we had a lot of fun last year and grew some great students!
One of our biggest things to focus on is recruitment, especially of girls. We are doing this both with a higher level of awareness at the high school level, and by connecting with our new middle school age team, TL Devo.
We would love to get a new branded tent to put up at events and races, and this is where you can help. These tents are quite expensive, about 1500.00 even with a NICA discount for a high quality tent that will last for years. We are looking for sponsorship in return for logo placement on the tent. This is a much better opportunity for return as the tent is evergreen and not like jersey placement where things change every year. If your company would like to donate a few hundred dollars towards this, it would be fantastic . Tempo will be putting money towards this as well, and I’d love some company on the tent! Please reach out to me if you are interested, I’d love to have a conversation!
The studio is building out one piece at a time, I have 35 saddles to demo now and plan to invest more in saddle pressure mapping technology in the new year. The supply chain is easing a bit and more bikes (and parts like stems and saddles, yay!) are becoming available to actually buy. I’m also renewing with the ErgoFit platform which just integrated more fitting metrics and predictive technology, as well as being a much better way to capture data. This allows us to have a conversation about the measurements very quickly and accurately if something changes like a saddle slipping, etc , as well as the ability to add a “ quiver” of bikes to your identity on the platform with your unique measurements and metrics, keeping them nicely organized.
