Make The Hard Thing Easier

“You work. You struggle. You persevere. And if it pays off right, people will look at what you’ve done and think it just came naturally. They’ll think it was inevitable. It wasn’t, of course. But they’ll see what they’ll see. And you’ll know what you know.”

 – Jason Feifer

Hello ,

I had a great weekend wrapping up the Norcal League season which ended up being staged at Six Sigma Ranch after several venue changes in the weeks running up to the event. One of the issues or challenges is the events are simply getting larger, especially as they add the Junior Development ( grades 6-8) racing and participation.

I really enjoy seeing all the groms running around experiencing racing and awesome camping, and the high school teams are benefitting hugely from this explosion in membership. This translates upwards to the huge 15-16 and 17-18 fields at national level MTB races, really the only area outside of gravel that is currently growing. It’s the future, folks, and I’m really stoked to be a part of it.

A project I’m collaborating on in the San Rafael area just went live. If you would like to be an adult participant in the new TL DEVO team, scan this QR code, and let’s connect!

Results And Kudos

Owen Irving- P10, Varsity Boys, Norcal League Championships, Lake County, CA

Noah Bott- P7, JV Boys D1, Norcal League Championships, Lake County CA

Allison Higginbotham, P38, Grindurito, Mt Shasta, CA

Interesting Studies

One of the coolest things about this study is they used data from Strava, sampling over 82,000 long runs. No complaints about small sample cohorts here!

Thinking about how to improve durability and resiliency within an athlete’s ability is key .

Be well,

Coach Johnny

I’m loving the ability to dial in an athletes training and personalize the intervals, the recovery, and the nutrition. I used the information from my personal tests to specify a power range and nutrition at the Grasshopper two weeks ago, with solid sensations all day on minimal training. We’ve been seeing some special results already this year  and I’m very excited for the summer.
