Winning is like being rich. It’s nice, but it’s not something in your control, day to day. What is in your control is showing up, giving maximum effort, following your training, sticking to your principles, pursuing your calling. If that translates to on the field success, great—in fact, it almost always does. If that translates into career recognition, awesome—and again, it usually does. But sometimes so does the opposite of those things.
I’m beginning to look forward towards 2022 and I’m excited! Next Tuesday I’ll be wrapping up 8 weeks with Dr Amy Saltzman in the Still Quiet Place For Athletes work group, and will be moving the continuing education focus back towards exercise physiology using the INSCYD protocol. I also was on a webinar on pre-exercise priming with Supersapiens last week and it looks like that app will be approved in the US in 2022. I’m anticipating helping athletes both train and fuel better in and out of competition next year!
High School Coaches!
The Norcal season got officially underway last week, and we had over 20 kids and coaches on the Piedmont Rides Zwift ride, where we mostly just sorted out a couple bugs and chatted on Discord. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again this Thursday night at 5 PM PST !
I was also lucky enough to spend last Saturday with the Hayward Composite team, where we ran 33 kids through pre-season bike checks and short bike fits. I think from a team bonding and risk management standpoint, setting aside one or two days for this in your busy pre-season can be really beneficial to your riders and save lots of time along the trail during winter training rides..

With all the marketing out there, especially towards peri- and post-menopausal women, its important sometimes to see the forest through the trees. This info graphic says a thousand words.
